Well I shot with Jon at the Euros and everything from the pistol grip forwards, which the op.asked about really is a one off made by Jon from approx 2 1/2" Ali.That was from the horses mouth so to speak.BenGun wrote:Steve = No it isn't.
Sven = as a full bore shooter with over 27 years experience 22 with the Army , we are going to have to disagree, there is absolutely no benefit in knowing what the wind is doing before it leaves the barrel.
If you must have a windicator fit it to the end of the barrel , not 2-3 or four inches before the end of the barrel.

Steves right its a one piece stock replacing the four bolt together parts from the adjustable cast off going forwards.
Admittedly I didn't need to make the stock but clutching at straws thought I would rule out a potential problem and not to worry ever again. One in 3 factory stocks suffer and need extra sorting out, the original was one of them them sorted last July 2014.
Tried over several weeks swapping and extensively changing scopes I was non the wiser. Long story short it turns out the very front tube from orange tuner onwards was re bead blasted and anodised silver, this removed aluminium and weight so tuner settings were way out.
Proof of the pudding here goes, started off with 2 1/4" x 2 1/2" 6082 aluminium flat. Has good anodising properties and the best in terms of its flex returning to zero.
Also came at a bad time, so much on but had to be done.
It started a bit like this
In all the P800X have had never felt the need to hold forward more than 1/2" in front of cradle fixings, so that's where it ends. Then it went a bit like this Properly bedded in, manufacturers take note. Now you can see where I am, 3 bolt together parts there very flimsy and constant movement.

Now the underside, flipped over now trueing up and reducing down to the perfect depth 3.7mm higher than original.
Down to depth, sides rounded, Accessory rail T slot in, trigger cutout to length.
Pistol grip fixing in place also set up 3.7mm, with material taken out the right places.

Now to guage how its getting on and feel for any tweaks needed.
Realising it looks off ending short and what other producers are doing lately by making rotation stocks and carbon fibre round tubes on forend.
Need to fool the eye in to thinking its longer, here goes Anchutz style stabilisor built in what a bitch to do. Ready to try and feel for how it handles, not just make something to a pattern and be done with it.
Good enough
Just about perfection
Material removed so far no roughing cuts.
I had a vision to make the forend short, its not needed so why carry useless junk about, its performance I want over looks.Realising it looks off ending short and what other producers are doing lately by making rotation stocks and carbon fibre round tubes on forend.

Tried and testing for two weeks felt spot on, so stripped down and took in for anodising.
Just have to be different, inlay Similar style as the Anschutz T slot stabilisor, this one part of the actual stock looks simple but don't fancy doing another. Original rear end on to new stronger, lighter better suited aluminium forend with pistol grip 6.7mm higher, trigger now lines up with bottom of trigger guard. As mentioned earlier knew it was down to three things but no time to spare after checking several scopes getting the same symptoms I took the plunge and made the stock. At least its bedded in right and will never ever have problems.
The actual problem was some weeks before after the orange tuner theres an aluminium tube threaded on to barrel up to a stop. All I did was re bead blast and take in for brightened silver anodising nothing else touched and there lay the problem took weeks to sort even though knew of these traits.
